Palmolein case: HC directs Kerala govt to file detailed report by Apr 11

The Kerala High court on Friday directed the state government to file a detailed stage-wise report on investigation into the Palmolein case by April 11.

Kochi: The Kerala High court on Friday
directed the state government to file a detailed stage-wise
report on investigation into the Palmolein case by April 11.

A division bench comprising justices CN Ramachandran
Nair and B P Ray also directed the government to produce all
orders passed by the Supreme Court and other courts in this
regard.
The directions were issued on a PIL by P D Joseph of
Thrissur, seeking action against officers responsible for the
`delay` in investigation of the case.

He submitted that innocent people were being
victimised in the case.

The government informed the court that investigation
was stayed for seven years on account of apex court
intervention.
A special vigilance court had on March 14 allowed a
state government petition seeking further probe into the
Palmolein graft case of 1992.

The case relates to alleged corruption in importing
Pamolein from Malaysia, which allegedly caused a loss of Rs
2.32 crore to the state exchequer in 1991-92 when late K
Karunakaran was the chief minister.
