Aluva: Police today questioned
Nazeruddin Elamaram, President of the radical outfit Popular
Front of India (PFI) which is alleged to have carried out the
attack on a college lecturer in Ernakulam district on July 4.
Elamaram was questioned at Muvattupuzha by the Special
Investigation Team (SIT) officials, police said. He was
questioned over PFI`s suspected involvement in the attack.
Earlier, police had also questioned PFI state general
secretary, Abdul Hameed and gathered information regarding the
involvement of the outfit in the attack, the sources said.
A total of 19 PFI activists have been arrested in the
case and another 30 accused are absconding.
The lecturer T J Joseph was attacked on July 4,
allegedly by PFI activists, and his right hand chopped off for
preparing a question paper which reportedly contained
"derogatory" references to Prophet Muhammed.
