Kozhikode: CPI(M) Politbureau member and its Legislature party deputy leader Kodiyeri Balakrishnan on Friday alleged that the probe conducted by the special police team in the alleged fatal assault a youth at Kodiyathur in the district was not satisfactory.

Talking to reporters after visiting the house of the victim Shaheed, Balakrishnan said a new police team headed by top officials should probe the case.

The present inquiry was unable to bring out any new evidences in the case, he said.

Balakrishnan alleged that the probe was not conducted with seriousness because of the involvement of some people from the ruling front.

Later, speaking at a meeting organised by the Left Democratic Front, Balakrishnan demanded the government to provide Rs 10 lakh assistance to the family of Shaheed.

In a case of 'moral policing' Shaheed was brutally assaulted by the group on November 9 alleging illicit relationship with a woman and later he died on November 13 at a private hospital.
