RSS activist`s murder sparks tension in Palakkad

Palakkad: Three CPI-M workers were injured in retaliatory attacks carried out allegedly by RSS activists on Thursday as sequel to the murder of a local RSS functionary
suspected CPI-M activists at Kanjikkode in Palakkad distrct yesterday.

As parts of the district remained tense with BJP and RSS calling a hartal in the area, the District Administration had called an all-party peace meet to end recurrence of violence.

According to police, three CPI-M workers suffered stab injuries in separate incidents at Kalippara and Koottupatha. The attacks were allegedly carried out by RSS activists,
sources said.

Ratheesh (24), a local RSS `karyavah, was hacked to death by a group of suspected CPI-M workers inside a passenger bus at Kanjikkode yesterday. Three of Ratheesh`s colleagues were injured in the attack, after which the assailants fled the
scene.

The area had bee witness to frequent clashes between the RSS and CPI (M) workers.

Former BJP state president PK Krishnadas, who visited the district, alleged that it was a planned attack that the CPI-M activists carried out against the BJP and RSS activists.
He said it was regrettable that no arrest had been made so far in connection with the case.
