Kottayam: Blaming the state government
for not shouldering the responsibility for the Pullumedu
tragedy, Opposition Leader Oommen Chandy has said the the
government was passing the responsibility on the union
government.

The government has not even submitted a memorandum to
the centre seeking land or facilities, Chandy told reporters
here.

The former chief minister said the demand of the
government that the centre was to provide facilities for
pilgrims in areas like Pullumedu which falls under the Periyar
Tiger Reserve , coming under the jurisdiction of union
government, was an attempt to cover up its failure.

Meanwhile, the Kerala Mochana Yatra which was put off
due to the three-day mourning by the state resumed its journey
from Perinthalmanna Tuesday.

A memorandum against the government would be submitted
to the Governor R S Gavai on February seven, Chandy said.
