Thiruvananthapuram: Giving a twist to the
appearance of congress spokesperson Abhishek Singhvi in the
lottery case, senior congress leader and Union Minister for
Overseas Indian Affairs Vayalar Ravi on Saturday alleged that it was
the result of a conspiracy of State Finance Minister T M
Thomas Issac with the knowledge of CPI-M in the state.

`It is a political conspiracy that brought Singhvi, who was
barred from holding media briefing as a temporary punitive
measure, to argue in Kerala high court as a counsel for
lottery promoters`, Ravi told a meet the press programme here
`I am of the view that Singhvi`s appearance in the case
is a mistake`, Ravi added. AICC has taken a serious note of
Singhvi appearance and it was for the congress ethics
committee, dealing the issue, to decide on the action against
Singhvi, Ravi said.

Ravi alleged that largescale corruption was involved in
the operation of other state lotteries of Bhutan and Sikkim
and Issac had failed to take any steps as the promoter of
the lotteries was close to CPI-M.

Ravi also rejected the LDF government contention that state
has no power to rein the operation of other state lotteries.
However, he said a concensus among the states had to be
evolved with regard to put a ban on other state lotteries.

On the coming civic polls in the state,Ravi said recent CPI-M
bashing on Churches was an attempt to appease majority
communalism with an eye on Hindu votes.

The congress led UDF Opposition would score impressive
victory in the coming civic polls, he claimed.
