New Delhi: Amid the political crisis in Kerala over the solar panel scam, beleaguered Kerala Chief Minister Oommen Chandy will on Monday meet Congress president Sonia Gandhi to explain the political situation in the wake of the scandal that has shaken the party and government. According to reports, Kerala Congress chief Chennithala will accompany Chandy during their meeting with the party president in the national capital in the wake of rising political pressure to contain the damage by the scandal. Chandy’s meeting with Gandhi comes amidst intensification of campaign for his ouster by CPI(M)-led LDF as his own office is under the cloud. The Kerala court hearing the case has rejected media reports that the accused, Saritha Nair, has named top ministers during interrogation. The court says Saritha has been asked to submit a written statement by Wednesday. The main complainant of the case claims Chief Minister Oommen Chandy knows Nair. "The party is backing the CM. We are all together in hitting against CPM and their malicious campaign," Chennithala said. Both Chandy and Chennithala are expected to seek Sonia Gandhi’s intervention in the matter.
