Kasaragod: Three more bodies of the victims who died in the Air India Express crash at Bajpe airport in Mangalore on Saturday were identified on Wednesday after DNA tests.

Authorities gave the names of the victims as M Riju John (31) of Padennakkad near Kanhangad, Umeshan alias Vijayan (41) of Kizhoor near here and Mohammed Basheer (44), a resident of Uppala town bordering Mangalore.

The bodies were identified after conducting DNA tests, an official release said here.

DNA tests were conducted after relatives of victims found it difficult to identity their near ones. In some cases, there were multiple claimants for a single body.

Results of DNA tests of five more unidentified bodies of Keralites hailing from Kannur and Kasaragod districts were awaited, the sources said.

The Boeing 737-800 flight from Dubai crashed after the pilot overshot the runway at the airport, killing all but eight of the 166 people on board.
