The incident occurred at the Government Medical
College Hospital at Mulankunnathkavu near here three days
The man, who found a cosy bedroom in the mortuary, was
handed over to police, who let him off after registering a
case for trespassing, police said.
The middle-aged man, an employee of a private firm in
Malappuram district, got down at the railway station here
inebriated. When he got into an autorikshaw, he came to know
it was not his destination. But he struck an instant bond with
the auto driver and they downed another bottle.
The driver then took him to the hospital compound and
managed to push him down through a window, saying it was a
workshop where he could sleep undisturbed.
After a while, two women employees entered the
mortuary to take out a stretcher and were startled to see a
`body` rising from the inquest table. They raised an alarm as
the man stood on unsteady feet and shuffled out of the room.
To their relief, he moved to the hospital gate and
stood there. Police was immediately called in and he was taken
to the station.
The man told police he could not clearly recall what
happened as he blacked out after downing the last pint.
