Thiruvananthapuram: Veteran journalist K M Roy and coloumnist of Malayalam daily `Mangalam` was honoured in the presence of Defence Minister A K Antony at a function held at the Press Club here on Saturday.

Speaking on the occasion, Antony said Roy was a committed
journalist who wrote without fear and bias. `I know Roy since
my college days in 1959`, Antony said.

Terming Roy as fearless journalist, Antony said it was a
rare honour for a person to write a coloum without break for
25 years.

Roy`s coloum `Erullum-Velichavum` (Dark and Light) appearing
in Mangalam daily is very popular among Kerala readers.

Roy in his speech said that it was the freedom given by
the founder of the Daily late M V Verghese and now by his son
and Editor Sabu Varghese that enabled him to write his
thoughts freely in the daily.

Daily`s cartoonist K S Raghu was also felecitated on the
occasion for his 30 years of continous drawing.

The function organised by Mangalam Daily was attended by
State Minister for Co-operation G Sudhakaran, Magalam Editor
Sabu Verghese and Poet D Vinayachandran.
