Kochi: Slamming the UPA government for
"neglecting" Kerala, CPI(M)`s state secretary Pinarayi Vijayan
Saturday said the Centre was "solely" responsible for the state`s
backwardness.

"The promised Coach factory and Kochi Metro project have
yet to become a reality," he said at an election meeting.

Taking a dig at Congress President Sonia Gandhi, Vijayan
said she should have done her homework well before criticising
the state that it was backward.

Talking to reporters, the CPI(M) leader said he had only
held casual discussions with the Jamaat-e Islami and had not
sought their votes. "We neither spoke of votes or asked them
for votes. Only casual discussions were held," he said.

There is no need to attach any seriousness to the
discussions, he said.

The LDF`s five year rule was `very good` and that is what
even opponents have said, Vijayan claimed.
