VS, Pinarayi in Kerala CPI(M) secretariat

Thiruvananthapuram: CPI(M) stalwart and former Chief Minister V S Achuthanandan and state unit secretary Pinarayi Vijayan were among the leaders elected to the state secretariat of the party's Kerala unit Wednesday.

Others elected to the crucial body, which takes day-to-day decisions on state level issues, are politburo member Kodiyeri Balakrishnan, Lok Sabha member P Karunakaran, former ministers P K Gurudasan, Thomas Isaac, A K Balan, P K Sreemathy and Elamaram Kareem.

LDF convener Vaikom Viswan, E P Jayarajan, V V Dakshinamurthy, M V Govindan, Anathalavattaom Anandan and Baby John were also elected.

The meeting of the state committee, which was elected by the party's state conference held in February, was attended by CPI (M) general secretary Pinarayi Vijayan and S Ramachandran Pillai, a CPI(M) press release said.
