Indore: Claiming that the BJP government
in Madhya Pradesh was functioning smoothly and efficiently,
the party`s State President Prabhat Jha today claimed that 35
leaders of the main Opposition Congress were waiting to join
the saffron outfit.
"I got before me scores of Congress leaders who are in
queue to join BJP. I will not reveal their names... there are
former MLAs and former General Secretaries of the Congress,"
he told reporters at the party office during a function of
BJP`s youth wing BYJM here.
Jha put the number of such Congress leaders at 35.
"After BJP`s victory in the three recent by-elections,
I can give you in writing that in 2013 Assembly election, the
BJP will win at least 200 out of 230 seats in MP. Hence
Congress leaders are queuing up to join BJP," he elaborated.
As Congress leaders Digvijay Singh, Kantilal Bhuriya
and Ajay Singh (who campaigned for the bypolls) were exposed
in these byelection, the party workers were getting frustrated
in the state, Jha said.
"Shivraj Singh Chouhanji BJP ka ek brahmastra hai...
agla chunav unke netratva mein lada jayega" (Chief Minister M
Chouhan is BJP`s ultimate weapon. The next Assembly poll will
be fought under his leadership," the Rajya Sabha member said.
Asked whether the party would take services of Uma
Bharti, who returned to the BJP fold last month, during polls,
Jha maintained "I am just a state President...I can not decide
or comment on national leaders of the party."
When reminded he had written to the President with
request for "death by wish" in the wake of spiralling prices,
and this was seen as a move to secure a senior post in BJP or
Government, Jha said," It was not a `nautanki` (drama)...I am
hurt by such comments made in press."
