Bhopal: The day-long bandh called by BJP student wing Akhil Bhartiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) passed off peacefully on Thursday with reports of road-blockade for some time were received from various parts of the state, official sources said.
In Bhopal, all private educational institutions remained closed in the wake of bandh call given by the ABVP in protest against commercialisation of education, fee-hike and
indirect elections to the students unions among others.
No untoward incident was reported from anywhere in Bhopal where ABVP workers held road-blockade at Chetak Bridge for some time. The police later foiled their attempt and took a group of activists into custody who were later released.
In Indore also nearly 108 ABVP workers were arrested
from Khandwa road when they attempted a road-blockade in front
of Devi Ahilyabai Viswa Vidyalaya (DAVV).
