Bhopal: Stating that the recent raids against lower level officials by the Lokayukta Police revealed the extent to which corruption was prevailing in the state, Leader of Opposition in the Madhya Pradesh assembly, Ajay Singh, said here on Tuesday that Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan should take action against corrupt ministers and senior officials.

The raids on the lower level employees only revealed the extent to which corruption was prevailing in Madhya Pradesh. But there is no point in having raids against class III or class IV employees. The chief minister should act against corrupt ministers and top officials, he said.

Singh said that during discussion on the no-confidence motion in the assembly in the winter session, he had argued that the Chief Minister should show guts to take action against some ministers who were allegedly corrupt.

"I know that Chouhan lacks the guts to take on corrupt ministers," the Leader of Opposition said adding that unless this was done, the Chief Minister can forget all talk about converting Madhya Pradesh into a golden state.

The Lokayukta Police had conducted a series of raids over the last few days on government officials and unearthed huge amount of unaccounted income.
