Indore: To register a protest against the
use of helmets, made mandatory for two-wheeler riders by the
local authorities, city-based Rajiv Vikas Kendra called a
five-hour bandh in Indore on Monday, which evoked a mixed response
from the citizens.

Early last week, the district administration and traffic
police made the use of helmet compulsory for two-wheeler
riders.

Rajiv Vikas Kendra, led by Devendra Singh, gave a call
for bandh between 7 am and 12 pm on Monday. To avoid tussle
with the protesters, many shops opened after 12 pm.

Police had made security arrangements to contain
protesters` attempts to disrupt normal life. However, no
untoward incident was reported during the bandh, police said.
Police were posted at a number places including Jawahar Marg,
cloth market, Malharganj, Tori Corner, and Palasia areas.
