Bhopal: The BJP in Madhya Pradesh on Saturday
took a dig at Congress general secretary Digvijay Singh over
his controversial statements, the latest being with regard to
slain al Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden.
"To remain in news has become a habit of the senior
Congress leader and therefore, he always give controversial
statements. It appears he thinks that by doing so, he will
become Congress party`s International General Secretary from
the national General Secretary," state BJP president Prabhat
Jha said to a news agency here.
"Because of his continuous controversial statements,
his image among the people has become that of a non-serious
and irresponsible leader," he remarked.
Jha said such statements may give immediate political
mileage to a particular party, but it is dangerous for the
nation as the job of a politician is not to incite a group or
a community.
On Singh`s remarks about Laden`s sea burial, the BJP
leader said he wanted to know from the Congress about its
stand on Mumbai and Parliament attack convicts -- Ajmal Kasab
and Afzal Guru -- and whether the party heading the UPA
government treats them as terrorists or not.
