"BJP`s farmer cell will stage a demonstration before
Parliament on August 3 demanding farmer-friendly land
acquisition, seed management and pesticide related bills," BJP
Kisan Morcha`s National president Omprakash Dhankhad told
"Government should table a farmer-friendly new Land
Acquisition Bill in the monsoon session of Parliament and it
should not acquire at any cost the fertile land of the farmers
for big industrial projects," he said.
Dhankhad alleged that in order to create a land bank,
corporate houses are eyeing fertile lands of the farmers, and
state governments, under the Land Acquisition Act, are acting
He alleged that the state governments under the archaic
Land Acquisition Act of 1894 are acquiring farmers` fertile
land by giving them a paltry compensation and then selling the
same at a premium to private companies.
The BJP leader demanded that the new law should clearly
define the term "public interest" and the farmers whose land
is acquired for setting up an industry should be given a share
in the profit of such units.
