Case filed against Digvijay, others in Indore

A case has been registered by Madhya Pradesh Police against senior Congress leader Digvijay Singh and seven other party leaders.

Indore: A case has been registered by Madhya
Pradesh Police against senior Congress leader Digvijay Singh
and seven other party leaders for blocking Indore-Betul
national highway and Indore-Kampel Road and causing
inconvenience to the people.

The case was registered on a complaint filed by a local
resident against the Congress leaders who have been booked
under IPC Sections 341 (wrongful restraint) and 143
(punishment for unlawful assembly), police sources said today.

The Congress General Secretary, along with MLAs Tulsi
Silavat and Satya Narayan Patel, and other party workers had
staged a road blockade here on September 19 to highlight the
poor condition of roads as part of a statewide agitation.

Protesting against filing of the case, PCC spokesman K K
Mishra said it was an example of "politicisation" of the MP
Police under the BJP government.

He claimed the Congress leaders had not staged a road
blockade but only held demonstrations and sit-ins, for which
the main opposition party had taken permission from the
local authorities.
