Dhar (MP): Congress on Friday defeated the
ruling BJP in the Mandu Nagar Panchayat elections.
Congress candidate for the Chairman's post, Mahesh
Thakur defeated BJP's Jairam Gavar with a margin of 140 votes
to wrest Nagar Pachayat body from the BJP, election officer
Arun Kumar Rawal told reporters.
BJP was in power in the Mandu Nagar Panchayat prior to
the elections.
Out of the total 15 wards, Congress bagged eight,
while BJP emerged victorious in seven seats, he added.
