Cricket betting shifting to small cities of MP, police say

`Satta` (betting) gangs in the state are now choosing to operate from small cities and tourist destinations, according to police.

Indore: `Satta` (betting) gangs in the state
are now choosing to operate from small cities and tourist destinations, according to police.

These rackets accept bets not only on international
cricket matches, but even the English County ties, a senior
police officer said on the condition of anonymity.
Police regularly conduct raids on betting operations in
big cities, so the operators are shifting to small towns ahead
of the cricket world cup, he said.

Further, internet, which is now available everywhere, is
being used extensively by the betting operators.
They even use a special "software", which connects mobile
phones (through which bets are accepted) to the computer
directly. Calls are then recorded, to maintain accounts, the
officer said.
