Defence lawyers not to get CD,DVDs related to Shehla murder case

Indore: The Special CBI court conducting trial in RTI activist, Shehla Masood murder case has accepted the prosecution's demand of not handing over copies of CDs, DVDs and other documents carrying 'intimate details' about the accused persons to defence lawyers.

The court has, however, allowed the defence lawyers to watch the CD and DVDs in the presence of CBI lawyers during the next hearing inside the courtroom.

The directives in this regard were given yesterday by the Special CBI Judge, Rajiv Kumar Ayachi after CBI submitted more details about the Shehla murder case with a plea to take them on record.

These articles carry details of telephone conversation related to the crime, CDs, DVDs, CPU, scientific details and opinion of Forensic Sciences Laboratories (FSL), the prosecution said.

The CBI requested the court not to provide these articles to defence laywers as it may get publicised outside the court.

The court said that if these articles gets publicity outside the court, it may affect the personal interests of those men and women related with the case.

Therefore, it will not be provided to the defence lawyers in the interest of justice, with a rider that both prosecution and defence lawyers can watch them inside the courtroom during the further hearing of the case.

Meanwhile, the defence lawyer, Sunil Shrivastava said that he would like to see the related video and documents as that will help them in protecting his clients.

The Special court also fixed October 16 for recording statement of Irfan, who is a co-accused in the Shehla murder case. The court has already admitted his plea to turn approver in the case.

The other accused in the case is Bhopal-based interior designer, Zahida Pervez, her close confidant, Saba Faroqui and two miscreants Saqib Ali alias Danger and Tabish.

Zahida was accused of conspiring to kill Shehla as she was jealous of her growing alleged closeness with former BJP MLA, Dhruv Narayan Singh.

Shehla was shot dead on August 16, 2011 in front of her house after an alleged conspiracy.
