Irked over denial of ticket from the Mandla Constituency for the Assembly elections this month, Madhya Pradesh Minister of State for Rural Development Devi Singh Sayyam on Saturday quit BJP.

Mandla: Irked over denial of ticket from the Mandla Constituency for the Assembly elections this month, Madhya Pradesh Minister of State for Rural Development Devi Singh Sayyam on Saturday quit BJP.
"I have sent my resignation papers regarding leaving the primary membership of the party to the district president Pramod Jain," the Minister said.

Sayyam, who had won from Mandal for three times in a row, accused BJP of deceiving him. He said that he had followed the directions of the party and also spent money on election preparations but after all this he was denied a ticket.

The party has chosen to field district Panchayat President, Sampatiya Uike, from Mandla.

To a question, he said he will consult his supporters before taking decision on contesting as an independent candidate from the seat.
