Digvijay challenges MP CM for open debate on development

Congress General Secretary Digvijay Singh on Tuesday challenged Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan to have an open debate on development during Congress and BJP rules in Madhya Pradesh.

Rewa: Congress General Secretary Digvijay Singh on Tuesday challenged Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan to have an open debate on development during Congress and BJP rules in Madhya Pradesh.

"Let us have an open debate on the development works carried out during Congress rule and during BJP rule at any forum to make things clear," Digvijay said at a function organised on the 88th birthday of former Speaker and senior Congress leader Sriniwas Tiwari.

Chouhan did not even spare unemployed people and charged huge amounts as fees for applying to various posts in the government sector, he said.

"Munnabhais" or imposters were admitted to MBBS courses in Madhya Pradesh instead of genuine candidates, due to an alleged scam in the state`s Professional Examination Board, which was recently exposed by the police, he said.

He alleged rampant corruption in sand mining contracts at the panchayat level under the BJP, in partnership with Chouhan.

The cost of sand in the state after the BJP came to power has increased five times, he claimed.

Congress General Secretary in-charge of Madhya Pradesh Mohan Prakash said that if people wanted to change the government in the state, they should vote for Congress.

He said BSP chief Mayawati or Samajwadi Party President Mulayam Singh could never do what Congress leaders like Indira Gandhi had done.

Leader of Opposition in the State Assembly Ajay Singh called MP CM Shivraj Chouhan an "escapist" and a person who always tells lies.
