Digvijay`s brother ready to take on Chouhan in poll battle

Madhya Pradesh Congress leader Laxman Singh is ready to take on Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan in the poll arena.

Bhopal: Madhya Pradesh Congress leader Laxman Singh, who is the brother of party stalwart Digvijay Singh, is ready to take on Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan in the poll arena.

Laxman has said he is willing to contest Assembly Election from Budhni, represented by Chouhan, if the party decides to field him from the seat in Sehore district and the local workers back his candidature.

"I recently spent two days in Budhni and I got the feeling that the people there want a change and defeat of Chouhan," he told a news agency.

Laxman, the vice-president of State Congress and a former MP, is younger brother of Digvijay, a two-time Chief Minister.

The Congress leader said during his trip to Budhni he met a large number of Congress workers and he was impressed with their enthusiasm for the elections next month.

Madhya Pradesh, being ruled by BJP since 2003, will go to polls on November 25 to elect a new 230-member Assembly.

Laxman, who had a stint in ruling BJP, came back to Congress fold in January this year.
Laxman had left Congress in 2004, and after joining BJP, he fought the 2004 Lok Sabha election successfully on its ticket from Rajgarh. However, he failed to retain the seat in 2009 elections.
