Effect about Rs 10 lakh recovery from MP govt`s guests: Audit

A recovery of about Rs 10 lakh has to be effected from several VIPs and their guests for non-payment of prescribed rent for their stay in residential accommodation of the Madhya Pradesh government here, according to an audit report.

New Delhi: A recovery of about Rs 10 lakh has to be effected from several VIPs and their guests for non-payment of prescribed rent for their stay in residential accommodation of the Madhya Pradesh government here, according to an audit report.
The money has to be recovered from as many as 169 people who stayed at `Madhya Pradesh Bhawan` and Madhyanchal, most of whom on references from serving ministers, office bearers of BJP at Centre and in the state, a senior Congress leader and other officials of MP government during 2008-12, says the report accessed by Bhopal-based RTI activist Ajay Dubey. A recovery of Rs 9,58,875 has to be effected on account of guests, who had stayed in Madhya Pradesh Bhawan, of some "honourable individuals" and Members of Parliament, said a copy of the audit report dated December 13, 2012. The report was made available to Dubey on September 7, this year. It was not immediately known if the people who figured in the list have paid the rent dues after the audit report was submitted to the government. "Guests have been sent letters and reminders from time to time and they have been again sent the letters. The guests have been contacted over the phone for making the due payment," the audit report said. The report said the persons against whom room rent bills were pending included Puja Patidar--guest of state Industry and Commerce Minister Kailash Vijaywargiya; Shalu Dogra--guest of senior BJP leader Venkaiah Naidu; O P Purohit--guest of Digvijay Singh; Laxmi Mani Mata-- guest of Vivek Tankha, Additional Solicitor General; BJP leader Arvind Menon and Sanjay Singh, brother-in-law of Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan. A total of Rs 52,800 is due from Naresh Yadav, Kamlesh Yadav, Shelesh Yadav and Ajay Yadav, sons of MP Governor Ram Naresh Yadav; Rs 3,500 from Surjeet Singh Chouhan, brother of Chief Minister, and Rs 3,000 from Sanjay Singh, brother-in-law of the CM, the report said.
