Former Congress Corporator shot dead in MP town

Betul (MP): Unidentified gunmen on Friday shot
dead Congress leader and former corporator Alok Mishra, police
said.

The incident occurred late in the evening when Mishra
was sitting in his medical shop here. Two unidentified men
arrived at the spot on a motorcycle and opened fire at him,
they said.

The Congress leader was hit by two bullets and he died
on the spot, police said, adding the assailants managed to
escape.

The attack caused panic in the area which was later
visited by Betul SP Bhagwant Singh Chouhan and other police
officials.

The motive behind the murder was not yet clear, police
said, adding a search operation has been launched to nab the
killers.
