Former MP minister arrested once again in scam related case

Former Madhya Pradesh Minister Laxmikant Sharma was arrested again by the Special Task Force (STF) on Thursday, in connection with his alleged involvement in the weights and measures inspector exam scam case.

Sharma, who was earlier arrested for his alleged role in the Madhya Pradesh Professional Examination Board (MPPEB) exam scam is presently in judicial custody.

He was earlier arrested for his alleged role in recruit of contractual teachers and also in the transport constable recruitment exam scam, a senior STF official said here today.

Incidentally, both these exams were conducted by the MPPEB, which also conducted the weights and measures inspector exam, when Sharma was the Madhya Pradesh government`s technical education minister.

Meanwhile, the court of Judicial Magistrate APS Chouhan sent former MP minister Sharma as well as his former Officer on Special Duty (OSD) O P Shukla to jail today, until July 2, under judicial custody.

Shukla was also arrested by the STF in connection with his alleged involvement in the scam sometime ago.

In a related development today, Special Additional Session Judge (STF) Ramkumar Choube rejected the anticipatory bail plea of absconding mining baron Sudhir Sharma, who is also an accused in the multi-layered scam, which is related to the MPPEB scam.

The STF has already announced a reward of Rs 5,000 for information which may lead to Sudhir Sharma`s arrest.
