Four MP pilgrims killed in Mathura road mishap

Four pilgrims from Madhya Pradesh were today killed and over 24 others injured in a collision between two trucks in Kosi town of the district, police said.

police said.

Six of the injured were reported to be in serious
condition.

The accident took place about 48 kilometres from here in
Nekasa Tiraha area on National Highway number 2, when a truck
rammed into another, police said.

"The accident occurred when driver of a truck going ahead
of the ill-fated truck applied breaks suddenly and the truck
carrying pilgrims rammed into it, resulting in death of four
pilgrims and injury to 25," SSP Prem Gautam said.

Balbir Singh (50), Kala Singh (28), Sukhadeo Singh (32)
and Jagadeep Singh (24) died on the spot, he said.

The pilgrims were on their way to Amritsar in Punjab when
the mishap occurred.

The hunt for the driver of the truck was on, they said.
