Guna (MP): A gangster carrying a reward of
Rs 7.15 lakh on his head was on Sunday arrested along with one of
his accomplices after an encounter here, police said.
Sangram Pardi (30), a resident of Khejda Chack of Guna,
had allegedly killed a Congress leader Raju Chopra, his wife
Shalini, their daughter Manju and driver and servant in
Tikata Nagar in Jammu in 2006 after which the J&K police had
announced a reward of Rs 7 lakh on him, Superintendent of
Police K P Venkateshwar Rao told reporters here.
The MP police too have announced a reward of Rs 15,000 on
his head after he committed crimes in the state, he added.
He said that Sangram was wanted in eight murder cases,
including three in Delhi, besides dacoity cases in various
parts of the country.
Following a tip off, police reached Sabra Pahad area and
asked him to surrender with his gang members. The gang,
however, fired at police leading to exchange of fire and
arrest of Sangram and his accomplice Kheru Pardi, Rao said.
Other three other members of the gang Kiran Pardi, Gautam
Pardi and Mohan Pardi escaped from the spot, the officer said.
Police have seized 12 bore gun, five live cartridges
from Sangram and a .315 bore country made pistol and 2 live
cartridges from Kheru.
A hunt has been launched to arrest other members of the
gang, police said.
