Bhopal: The death toll due to swine flu in Madhya Pradesh has risen to 12 with a 51-year-old woman succumbing to the viral disease here, officials said Wednesday.
Nazeeran Bi, a resident of Jehangirabad locality, who was undergoing treatment at the Bhopal Memorial Hospital and Research Centre, died of the disease on the intervening
night of Monday and Tuesday, they said.
This is the first H1N1 death in the state capital after the deadly flu resurfaced in MP following a gap of three months.
Earlier six deaths were reported from Jabalpur and five from Indore this month, they said.
Nearly 45 patients have tested positive for the H1N1 in the state this month and are undergoing treatment in various hospitals in Indore, Jabalpur and Bhopal, they said.
A total of 160 swab samples have been sent for testing so far.
