Heptullah to adopt village in Bhopal next week

Minorities Affairs Minister Najma Heptullah will adopt a village in Bhopal under Saansad Adarsh Gram Yojana (SAGY).

New Delhi: Minorities Affairs Minister Najma Heptullah will adopt a village in Bhopal under Saansad Adarsh Gram Yojana (SAGY).

"Union Minister for Minority Affairs Najma Heptulla has decided to adopt 'Phanda' village in Bhopal district under the scheme of Saansad Adarsh Gram Yojana Rural Development ministry," an official statement said.

Under SAGY, MPs have been asked to take the responsibility of developing physical and institutional infrastructure of villages.

Heptullah was born in Bhopal. The statement said that she will visit the city to formally adopt the 'adarsh gram' on November 20, it said.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has already adopted Jayapur village in Varanasi, his Lok Sabha constituency in Uttar Pradesh.

With an intent of developing rural India, Modi had launched SAGY under which each MP has been asked to develop physical and institutional infrastructure of three villages by 2019. Under it, one village would be developed by each MP by 2016.
