Bhopal: Putting speculations of becoming BJP national president at rest, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan today said that he was never approached for the party`s top post.

"I know for sure that no one in the BJP has asked me to become the party`s national president," Chouhan told reporters at his residence.

He said that there were many more able and experienced leaders in the BJP who could take over the mantle of national presidentship.

His remarks assume significance in the light of persistent media speculations that he should take over the reins of BJP going through a rough patch after its poor performance in the recent Lok Sabha elections under the leadership of Rajnath Singh.
