IPS officer murder: MP govt removes cop

In what seems to be a damage control exercise post the murder of IPS officer Narendra Kumar Singh, the MP government has removed the incharge of Banmore police station under whose limits the killing had taken place.

Morena (MP): In what seems to be a damage
control exercise post the murder of IPS officer Narendra Kumar
Singh, the Madhya Pradesh government has removed the incharge
of Banmore police station under whose limits the killing had
taken place, a senior police officer said today.

"Banmore Station Incharge V B S Raghuwanshi was
yesterday line-attached (removed from field duties) as his
performance was not satisfactory," Morena SP Sanjay Kumar
Singh told reporters.

Raghuwanshi has been replaced by another police
official Rakesh Tiwari.

The decision to remove Raghuwanshi was taken by the
district police chief after a meeting with the Morena
Collector D D Agrawal and Divisional Forest Officer (DFP) R S
Sikarwar.

Keshavdev Singh, father of the 30-year-old IPS
officer, had alleged that Raghuwanshi was not cooperating with
his son in cracking down on the mining mafia in the region and
has failed to protect his senior officer while on duty.

According to reports, Keshavdev is unsatisfied with
the action initiated against Raghuwanshi and has sought
stringent punishment.

Narendra Kumar Singh, who was posted as the Banmore
Sub-Divisional Officer of Police (SDOP), was allegedly mowed
down by a member of the mining mafia on March 8 when he tried
to stop the tractor-trolley allegedly carrying illegally mined
stones.
