Kalpana`s arrest was arbitrary, says Congress
Kalpana was arrested on Thursday for allegedly doctoring a photograph of Madhya Pradesh Lokayukta PP Naolekar to show that he was a former RSS worker.
Bhopal: Leader of Opposition in Madhya Pradesh Assembly, Ajay Singh on Monday charged the BJP government in the state with ordering the arrest of Congress MLA, Kalpana Parulekar without following any rules.
"The manner in which Parulekar was arrested indicates that Madhya Pradesh may be going the Uttar Pradesh way," he told reporters.
Kalpana was arrested on Thursday for allegedly doctoring a photograph of Madhya Pradesh Lokayukta PP Naolekar to show that he was a former RSS worker, in the assembly during its budget session.
Ajay said the Congress MLA had been sent a notice asking her to be present at her Bhopal residence and she had replied by saying that she will be available there during the budget session.
The Leader of Opposition said that before the session could begin, a team of police personnel went to Parulekar`s residence in Mahidpur (Ujjain) and arrested her.
Ajay said that if an elected representative like Parulekar can be arrested without being given a chance to present her version, one could will imagine what would happen to the common man in the state.
He said that a meeting of the State Congress Legislative Party would be held later today to discuss the issue.
"Even the mighty British empire could not do anything to Congress and Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan also cannot suffocate the party," Ajay warned.
