Indore: The Lokayukta Police on Saturday seized Rs 10.50 lakh cash from a Jail Superintendent`s locker, two days after the sleuth’s recovered assets worth Rs 15 crore during raids in his houses, a senior official said.
"After opening Purushottam Somkunwar`s locker in Maharashtra Industries House today, cash of Rs 10.50 lakh, fixed deposit receipts worth Rs 6.50 lakh and property documents of a house he had bought at Rs 5 lakh in 2003 in Indore were found," Lokayukta SP Virendra Singh said.
The present cost of the house is estimated at Rs 30 lakh, he said. The Lokayukta Police had on Thursday raided the jail chief`s houses in Bhopal and Indore and recovered assets disproportionate to his known sources of income.
In Bhopal, Somkunwar has got three luxurious bungalows, one hostel, four shops and five plots. In Indore, he has two plots, the SP had said on Thursday.
Besides, he owns 14 acres of land in Barwai, Palasi and Khamkhera apart from Rs 35 lakh worth house assets in Indore, the official had said. Three luxury four-wheelers and a two-wheeler were among other things in his assets, Singh had said.
