Madhya Pradesh HC issues notice to Lokayukta in land scam

Madhya Pradesh High Court has issued notices to the Lokayukta, state government and others on a petition challenging a special court`s order to probe an alleged multi-crore land scam.

Indore: Madhya Pradesh High Court has issued
notices to the Lokayukta, state government and others on a
petition challenging a special court`s order to probe an
alleged multi-crore land scam.

Local Congress leader Suresh Seth had filed a petition in
the special court in this regard, following which the probe
against Madhya Pradesh Industries Minister Kailash
Vijaywargiya and his close confidant and BJP MLA Ramesh
Mendola in the city`s Sugni Devi college land scam was
ordered.

The HC has sought reply from the respondents in 15 days.

Mendola has challenged the petition on the ground that
special court has no power to order an inquiry into the case.

The lower court has asked the Lokayukta to probe the land
scam and submit its report by August 6.
