Raisen (MP): A First Class Judicial
Magistrate had a narrow escape when an unidentified person
shot at him soon after he left the court and was going towards
his home at Bareilly, 100 kms away from here, police said
on Saturday.

The incident took place last night when Magistrate R K
Batham escaped unhurt as the cartridge shot at him got stuck
in the weapon itself, police said.

The episode created panic in the town and police have
launched a hunt to nab the person who had targeted the
Magistrate.

The assailant fled from the spot on a motorcycle. Police
suspect that he might have targeted the Magistrate because of
some judgement.

A case has been registered in this regard and further
investigations are on.

Bareilly`s Advocate Association President, Prem Singh
Dhakad has condemned the incident and said no legal work would
be carried out in the court today as a protest against
the incident.

A memorandum against police will also be submitted to
the concerned authorities for failing to nab the accused.
