Middleman arrested in MP Pre-Medical Test scam

A 23-year-old youth, who acted as a middleman, was today arrested in connection with the Pre- Medical Test (PMT) scam in Madhya Pradesh, a senior official said.

Indore: A 23-year-old youth, who acted as a middleman, was today arrested in connection with the Pre- Medical Test (PMT) scam in Madhya Pradesh, a senior official said.

The arrest was made by a Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing the scam which came to light in 2013. The scam relates to irregularities in PMT conducted by MP Professional Examination Board (MPPEB).

The racket had later led to unearthing of recruitment scam involving the Board, which also conducts entrance exams for appointment to several government jobs.

The accused, Brajesh Jatav, got a candidate admitted in Government Mahatma Gandhi Memorial (MGM) Medical College here in 2014 through fraudulent means, Additional SP and In-charge of SIT's Indore unit, Devendra Patidar, told reporters.

Jatav, a resident of Bhind district, had taken a hefty amount from the candidate, Ravindra Singh, for getting him admitted into the college, he said.

Five other middlemen - Ramneet, Rakesh Khanna, Ajay Yadav, Narendra Chourasia and Vikrant Prasad - too had played a role in facilitating the admission of Singh and all of them had been arrested.

Patidar said further investigations were on.
