Bhopal: Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister
Shivraj Singh Chouhan has ordered the state officials to
undertake an intensive month-long campaign from December 15 to
detect and curb illegal mining activities in the state.
The CM issued the instructions to the
officials during a videoconferencing session at the Mantralaya
(state secretariat) here yesterday.
Chouhan said that after January 15, he would
personally review the action taken under this campaign.
He said that the state officials, including those from
the Forest and Mining Departments, as well as police, should
coordinate among themselves for the drive.
He also instructed the district collectors to hold
Task Force meetings twice a month in this regard.
Maximum fine should be imposed in cases of illegal
mining, the Chief Minister said adding that collectors should
take a review of the cases related to illegal mining that are
pending in courts, to ensure their early disposal.
