Bhopal: A policeman sustained injuries in
his eye during a clash between two groups in Itwara area here, police said Friday.
The incident occurred on Wednesday night when a teenaged
boy was allegedly roughed up by a man belonging to another
community.
Following this, there was a clash between the two groups
and at least three houses and about a dozen two-wheelers were
set on fire, they said.
In the ensued stone-pelting, Superintendent of Police
(North), Abhay Singh, who was among the police personnel
trying to bring the situation under control, was hit on his
right eye, which was critically damaged, police said.
With local doctors saying that there was little hope of
saving his eye, he was flown to Chennai`s Sankara Netralaya,
for further treatment last night, they said.
