Bhopal: Madhya Pradesh Government will
conduct a probe into the allegations that a child specialist
from Indore had taken Rs 1.44 crore from several companies for
conducting drug trial on children and whether he had taken
permission for the same from the competent authorities or not.
The matter was raised by Paras Saklecha (Independent
MLA) during Question Hour in the State Assembly today alleging
that Dr Hemant Jain, Professor of Paediatrics at Government
MGM Medical College took Rs 1.44 crore from various companies
for conducting drug trial and also went on number of foreign
trips without seeking permission from the authorities.
Replying to the issue, the Minister of State for Health
and Family Welfare, Mahendra Hardia assured the house that he
would conduct a probe in the matter.
Saklecha also wanted to know under what rules Dr Jain`s
foreign visit was sanctioned nearly eight months after the
visit, while as per rules, any government servant must take
prior approval from the competent authorities before
proceeding on a foreign tour.
The Independent MLA alleging irregularities in the matter
said that record of drug trial provided by the doctor in one
case mentioned that the child was born in the year 2010 even
as drug trial on him was conducted in the year 2007.
