Indore: The Madhya Pradesh government on Saturday
announced that it will earmark half of the state`s budget for
the schemes aimed at the welfare of poor and reserve 25 percent of seats in private schools for their children.

"Half of the state`s population belongs to the poor
classes and therefore the state budget`s 50 per cent outlay
will be earmarked for their welfare," Chief Minister Shivraj
Singh Chouhan said here after inaugurating the Antyodaya Mela.

In an indirect reference to the Congress, he said that
earlier governments indulged in vote bank politics, but failed
to do anything for the welfare of the poor.

The Chief Minister also said that his government will
reserve 25 per cent of seats in private schools for the
children of the poor and their school fees will be paid by the
government.

He also said that if the industrial units investing in
the state gave 90 per cent of the jobs to locals, they would
get tax incentives.
