MP HC asks state govt to secure high court

The Madhya Pradesh High Court directed the state govt to put in place adequate security at the high court and its benches at Indore and Gwalior.

Jabalpur: The Madhya Pradesh High Court
on Friday directed the state government to put in place adequate
security at the high court and its benches at Indore and
Gwalior.

Acting on a petition, a division bench of justices K K
Lahoti and T K Kaushal directed the government to prepare
within one week an action-plan within on enhancing security of
the high court.

Petitioner advocate Pushpendrasingh Baghel said that in
the absence of proper security, several incidents of crime had
taken place on the court premises.

He also said that a meeting of the committee of Home Law
and other departments concerned was already held in this
regard, while another is due shortly.

The first meeting took few decisions on enhancing the
security of the courts.

The petitioner also said that according to the Supreme
Court guidelines it is the state government responsibility to
ensure adequate security at the courts and court premises.

The bench directed the government to prepare the action
plan first for the main high court at Jabalpur and later of
its benches.
