Indore: Sleuths of Lokayukta police Thursday raided the Indore and Bhopal residences of Jail Superintendent
Purushottam Somkunwar and claimed to have unearthed assets worth Rs 5 crores,disproportionate to his known sources of income.
Over a team of 40 sleuths of Special Establishment of
Police (SEP)of Lokyukta raided places of Somkunwar at the
Railway Colony here since morning, Superintendent of Police
lokayukta Virendra Singh said.
In Bhopal, Somkunwar has got 3 luxurious bungalows, one
hostel, four shops and five plots. In Indore, he has two
plots, the SP said.
Besides, he owns 14 acres of land in Barwai, Palasi and
Khamkhera apart from Rs 35 lakh worth house assets in Indore,
the official said.
The accused during interrogation disclosed that he had
about Rs 7.64 lakh cash at home, Rs 70 lakh cash in bank
accounts and LIC policy worth Rs 8.48 lakh, the SP said.
Three luxury four wheelers and a two-wheeler were among
other things in his assets, he said.
A separate SEP team was also deployed at his Indore jail
office to verify the documents, the SP added.
