Omar`s remark `uncalled for`: MP minister

MP Minister for Higher Education Laxmikant Sharma said that Omar Abdullah`s remark that students from Kashmir were facing discrimination in MP was "uncalled for".

Bhopal: Madhya Pradesh Minister for Higher
Education Laxmikant Sharma, on Saturday said that Jammu and Kashmir
Chief Minister Omar Abdullah`s remark that students from
Kashmir were facing discrimination in Madhya Pradesh was
"uncalled for".

"Admissions in the colleges of Madhya Pradesh are given
as per the prescribed rules, to the local students as well as
to those from outside," the Minister said here in a statement.

Omar had recently said on twitter that there was a
"campaign" in Madhya Pradesh to keep students from Kashmir
out.

The state government had issued guidelines for admission
on June 6, Sharma said.

"There is no question of discrimination against any
student from Jammu & Kashmir or from any other state, for that
matter," Sharma said.

Criticising Omar for viewing the admission process from a
"communal angle", Sharma said that this showed a fault in
Omar`s thinking.

He should have checked the facts with Madhya Pradesh
government, Sharma said.
