Balaghat (MP): Police have recovered over one quintal of highly inflammable explosives and five kg of gun-powder from Muchurda Valley forest in the naxal-infested Balaghat district, 80 km away from here.

The explosives, which were hidden in a pit, were recovered during a search operation in the Muchurda Valley forest, Balaghat's Superintendent of Police (SP) Sachin Atulkar said today.

"The spot from where this explosive material was recovered is very sensitive as it is located close to Maharashtra and Chhattisgarh borders. This amount of explosives was enough to trigger a very powerful blast in the area," he said.

So far, none was arrested in this regard and search is on to arrest those responsible for it, the SP added.
