Indore: The district administration here has
suspended 66 employees for alleged negligence in the census
work, officials said today.
"A total of 66 employees were suspended on charges of
negligence in doing the census work," an official said.
The employees who had been trained as supervisor and
enumerator for conducting the headcount belonged to different
departments of the state.
They did not report for duty after undergoing training,
they said, adding the district administration conducted a
probe before suspending them, they said.
Besides, cases have been registered against 25 employees
of private colleges under The Census Act of 1948 for remaining
absent from the census duty, the officials said.
