New Delhi: Prohibitory orders imposed in the Barwani area of Madhya Pradesh (MP) on Monday night will reportedly remain in force as a precautionary measure.

Three different cases under sections of rioting, attempt to murder and mischief by fire have been registered against those responsible for the clashes.

On Monday, police arrested three persons in connection with clashes between two communities that left nine persons, including three police officials injured.

Violence erupted in the town on Monday night after fire crackers were set off after a ceremony at the Kalika Mata Temple in the Pala Bazaar while a Muharram-related procession was in progress.

Although all efforts were made to ensure a peaceful Muharram procession, but the situation remained tense despite a large police presence.
