Bhopal: A youth, who had allegedly created a fake Facebook account in the name of Congress general secretary Rahul Gandhi, had been arrested, police said.

The accused, identified as Ankit Saini, was arrested on Monday and produced in a local court in Ambala, following which he was released on bail.

According to police, Saini created this fake account, as he said he was enraged over the police action against Yoga guru Baba Ramdev and his supporters, during their fast at Ramlila maidan in Delhi.

Acting on a complaint filed by Pankaj Chaturvedi, a spokesperson of MP wing of Congress party, Bhopal police had registered a case against an unidentified person for allegedly sending messages to leaders and workers of women Congress as well as girls by creating the fake FB account.

The cyber cell has also seized the laptop and cellphone used by the accused to create Rahul Gandhi's profile, they said.

A case has been registered against the accused under relevant sections of the IT Act and further investigations are on.
